Étienne was born in Basel, Switzerland & was educated in Switzerland, the Bahamas, the United States & Canada. After spending most of his formative years in the Bahamas, he attended the Berkshire School in Sheffield, Massachusetts before doing his undergraduate studies at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec where he studied philosophy & history.  

Growing up in a household that was immersed in international banking & fashion gave him a profound insight into the worlds of both finance & commerce. Upon returning to the Bahamas, Étienne worked in the retail fashion industry for more than thirty years with some of the top fashion brands in the world. In that time, he developed a comprehensive understanding of the Bahamian market, including the Bahamian real estate market, & travelled extensively throughout the islands of the Bahamas. Along the way, he developed an appreciation of both the challenges & opportunities of doing business in the Bahamas.
